„The buds unfold to blossoms bright,
the blackbird sings the day’s delight.
Sunbeams dance along the ledge,
tiny mouse in Brambly Hedge.“
from Jill Barklem, Brambly Hedge, 2001
In MUTTERTIER, I explore the themes of identity, belonging, and rootedness through the relationship with my mother.
My photographs serve as symbols: wrinkles and traces on the skin speak of a life lived, a blurred reflection raises questions of identity, and parallels found in nature represent deep connectedness.
A recurring motif is the sheep - an animal that has accompanied me since childhood. In every flock, there is a lead animal, usually an experienced mother, that provides guidance and protection. This image runs like a golden thread throughout my work.
These elements meet, engage in dialogue, and intertwine into a multilayered reflection on mother-child-bonds and the invisible thread that connects us.
„MUTTERTIER“ was selected by a jury and exhibited at the Book Salon of the f² Photography Festival, Dortmund, Germany (2025)
